How To Open A Proton Account?
To open an account on Proton.com, follow these steps:
- Visit the Proton Account signup page in a web browser.
- In the Username box, enter the username desired for the email address.
- Choose the domain for the address: @proton.me or @protonmail.com (@proton.me is selected by default).
- In the Password box, enter a password at least eight characters long and type the password again to confirm.
- Click Create account.
- Choose Continue with Free to create a free email account (or Mail Plus for extra features and to support the mission).
- If asked to confirm humanity, tick the I am human box and follow the instructions. Alternatively, choose Email or SMS to verify humanity that way. (Note: if an email or mobile phone number is entered, only a cryptographic hash of this personal data is saved. It’s impossible to derive the phone number or email from that hash, and it’s not permanently associated with the account that is created.)
- Enter an optional display name. This is what people will see when an email is sent. Click Next.
- Enter an optional email address or phone number that can be used to recover the account if the password is ever forgotten or lost.
This process is easy and usually takes only a few minutes. It's also possible to sign up anonymously without giving an email address or phone number, although human verification may be required in some cases. Once the account is created, the same username and password can be used to log in to all Proton services. If any questions arise about this process, Proton can be contacted at shop@protonmail.com.
Proton Return Policy?
The Return Policy for Proton Shop states that if a customer is not entirely satisfied with a purchase, the products can be returned within 30 days of the reception of the product. Returned products are integrally refunded, excluding transportation costs. The product must be in its original packaging, not worn, washed or altered in any way, and must not show any signs of use. The price paid for the product must be 20$ (or equivalent in other currency) or more.
Refunds are not possible if the order was paid with cryptocurrencies, except if the order was over or underpaid. For Gift Cards, they can only be refunded on the original payment method up until 14 days after purchase. If the gift card was used but not spent, then the credits will be removed from the user's account and refunded to the original payment method used in the Proton shop order. If the gift card was used and spent, the gift card cannot be refunded, but the credits prorated after the downgrade will remain in the user's account to be used for other Proton plans or services. Refunds are provided for only up to 3 purchased gift cards. Refunds for shop gift cards can only be processed through shop@proton.me.
If a customer received a damaged product, they should notify Proton immediately for assistance. For any question about this policy, customers can contact Proton at shop@protonmail.com.
